If You Don’t Laugh You’ll Cry.

Do you have a happy place that you go to when you’re having one of those days and need a smile and love?

I do.

My dad is my happy place. I forget the world for a moment, block it out and get lost in my happy memories and soon enough, I’m laughing and smiling.

Of course the best thing is to call dad and it’s not long before we’re laughing at something silly! We have the same silly humour and my dad can literally make me laugh until I have tears streaming down my face.

When I was a little girl and I was ill or upset over something, dad would always make me laugh, even when I was being stubborn and adamant that I was too ill or upset and he still does it.

One day dad came home from work with a rope and you know what he did?
He taught me how to skip! I didn’t even know he could skip! I laughed so much, too much to pick it up that day. My dad skipping in the bedroom! He did the most unexpected things.

Of course we grow older, as do our parents. That’s the bit I don’t like, but as dad says, “That’s life Suzy.” Only now, life has dealt a hard blow and the man who was always the fastest, strongest and fittest is ill and I wish that I could make it go. But I can’t, no one can. Life….

I’ll tell you something about my beloved  Daddy Baron, his love, strength and belief has got him this far. Actually his love, strength and belief has got me this far and his silly sense of humour!

As we’re wiping away our happy tears,  dad says, “well, if you don’t laugh you’ll cry.”

I Love You Dad

Broke and Undone

Love is not love for some

It’s a game

Where they leave you

Broke & undone

You were full of light

Now the darkness has come

The walls close in

Your heart on the run.

The perpetrator smiles

Their work is done.
